Am I going mad (don't answer that one) as a long time LT user I still use the hide command regularly, using Autocad 2017. Today I get the message "Not enough free RAM for HIDE--some lines will be hidden incorrectly" . This looks to be a long time problem and changing visual style stops the message. I had our IT guy trying all sorts of things, even got updated to 2018 and still get the message. SoI just tried the same thing on my laptop with LT and I get the same message, I have never seen that before, is this a problem after an update or have I just missed seeing this for years.

Is the problem within one file, or ALL files?
The solution you note is correct, your systems are choking under the request, as noted here https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Not-en...

And if I may ask, what use does HIDE have in LT in 2d drafting that you need/must have?

Sorry it's me. The It guy had me sign in using the company account to look at possible solutions and I forgot to sign out. Any way the hide command still works, it's just the message that threw me. I seriously doubt the system is choking, this is a HP Z440 workstation.

Kept fully updated and patched by an IT department. The error still occurs on a fresh intall of Autocad 2018 with a freshly booted computer and empty metric Autocad template  containing absolutely nothing. The first command that runs is Hide, and I get the error message. I use 2018LT on my personal laptop and tried it there and get the same message. I have used the hide command for years and never seen this message before yesterday. But seeing as I noticed a windows update the other day I wondered if that had anything to do with that.Or possibly an update to Autocad. I used the command almost daily for many years at my last company and I honestly believe that the error message has never shown up before, (but I could have missed it I suppose). I know full Autocad has a much better command set. But for quick 3D visualisations I still us the hide command, it's just second nature, and as I say the command does still work. It just says that it might not.

Well in that case you are mad 🙂

Can you share a DWG file? You can PM me if it needs to remain private.

It happens with just the standard autocad template, on startup, but maybe it is a setting in there somewhere. Atached is a simple example drawing it works fine, but I still get the message about not enough free RAM.

But there is something else going on with this system, every couple of days the computer just stops reacting for quite long pauses, excel is usually the trouble maker, but Autocad does freeze quite often.

@pendean

You have to show the Textscreen/commandline, thats the "issue" 😉

I can reproduce this. In all from 2018 saved files(DWX/DXF/2013/2018 whatever),{EDIT}  in Files from Version from 2013 (for example) NO MESSAGE!!

in some other Files the message not appears. I will compare the files and check whicharx are loaded or something like this.{/EDIT}

See my commandline feedback with LT2018:

Befehl: _HIDE
Regeneriert Modell.

Nicht genügend freies RAM für VERDECKT--
einige Linien werden falsch verdeckt werden.

The oldest file I have on my laptop is 2013, but I still get the message opening it with 2018LT. It's more of a mystery than a real issue, I am 100% sure this is a new message, it's no more than a week ago that I used the hide command last. I can't have missed seeing that message for long. I've been using the 2017LT version on my computer for over a year.

In that case @cadffm , the message shows up in LT2018, LT2017, R2018, R2017 and ACA2018 and ACA2017 here.

If you're both getting that message then it looks like I'll have to go with the first theory, I'm going mad.

Yup just found confirmation, I'm losing it, I have logfiles turned on and did a search, indeed the last time I used the hide command was the last day of October, and the RAM message is recorded, I regularly delete the log files but it was there in August as well. Just goes to show how attentive I am.

Maybe you should put some extra EWE in. That should sort your RAM problem out
