Hiya everyone.

I'm currently teaching myself autocad via the LinkedIn videos and I am currently going over and over: AutoCad 2023 Essential training: working with coordinates with Shaun Bryant.

Long story short. I was trying to quiz myself from some old notes I made a year ago and decided to put what I had learnt in the past into my present status of studies.

I am struggling to draw a simple rectangle box. - By following the dude, I can do it and I believe that I understand that E=0 navigations. Unfortunately, I am not making a box, but other shapes, which I'm struggling to figure out.

Please check out my demonstration of what I am obviously not doing well at.

Can anyone be willing to share some ideas, links, courses, a stress-relief pack etc. with me?

Sincerely, hopeful-hazard-Harrietta.

(the name is not Harrietta btw, but when I am lost and confused, I put on that metaphorical hat of HHH)

Cheers.

@anne1sade May I ask why you are not using RECTANG command to draw a rectangle?

Better use of your time in AutoCAD is the key to getting things done, painfully drawing a rectangle like in your video is unproductive.

POLYGON command to draw the other shapes BTW if you want to explore even more: that's a fun one to use.

FWIW stop using @ symbol when you pull your cursor in the direction you want before typing the distance you want, learn from this simpler tutorial https://help.autodesk.com/view/ACDLT/2024/ENU/?guid=GUID-BF4A06D8-2D66-427D-9460-B62A479B22B4#:~:tex...
and the more wordy tutorial

Hiya,

Yes, I'm following https://www.linkedin.com/learning/autocad-2023-essential-training/working-with-coordinates?autoplay=... - who demonstrates coordinates with the line tool.

I agree. I do believe it's important for me to challenge and completely understand how to draw a box from different starting points to understand my navigation directions. Unfortunately, before recording, I was trying to make a box going from down-upwards, which I think would formulate as []
