HELP!! Commands do not

I am a retired designer, 72, who now uses LT infrequently.  Opened it an hour ago and non of the commands work!!  Yes, it is paid for.  Draw, Line, offset, none work.  I need to have a drawing ready for Sunday 28 July!!  Would someone help me, please.  I am out of the technology curve so now out in the cold.  Someone to talk to would be stellar!  latitude18.3@gmail.com.  812-824-6164.  John Cleveland

Let's try to fix your issue .

  • what is your AutoCAD version ?
  • what kind of error you've got ?
  • what do you mean by commands NOT working ?  show us a screenshot .

Do you just need to restart your PC?
Or log-in as an all new user on your PC?

If you want a call back and hands-on support by phone, you need to pay up here https://servicesmarketplace.autodesk.com/providers/product/autocad-lt

AutoCAD version LT 2018, 0.49.0.0
Cannot do screen shots. No error messages. Example: When I pick on the
icon to draw a *Construction Line*, no matter which option I choose--Horz,
Vert, Ang, Bisect, etc, It will only draw a Vertical Line.
When I pick on the Icon for *Offset *then enter the distance, I select the
line to offset but at that point, the system does not respond to any
further commands.
I pick on *Single Line Text *then select a point on the screen to start
entering text then select 0.000 for rotation, I can enter text, but the
command does not terminate on *Enter*. Enter just keeps on writing lines
of text and does not *Enter *or stop.
I pick on *Dimension, Linear*, select the points to dimension to, it
continues to ask for *Specify dimension line location or second line for
angle* over and over and over again. When I hit *Enter*, it goes away.

You may get the idea by now. I've run into this in the past, and if memory
serves, I reloaded AutoCAD and the problem went away. How do I do that now
when I don't have the disk?

Thank you so much for responding to my plea.

John

Thank you. Screen shots are not helpful because I cannot show you what
does not happen. If one picks on TEXT and nothing happens, how do I show
that?
I found the original program and uninstalled and reinstalled it. It made
no difference with the problems.
I checked and it's paid up until Oct 2020. So that's not it.
It feels like a virus. Talking to my guru--who does not know
AutoCAD--later today to have him look for viruses, but I am well protected
against that sort of thing.
So I am at a loss.
Like I said, pick on a command and it may go down two levels, then it just
stops. Nothing. Nothing to show.
I do appreciate your help. Thank you.

There may be clues to what is happening that you are missing and more experienced eyes will see them. You need to help others help you.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

Take your computer to a repair shop.. .

Wish we had a computer repair shop. And I don't feel as though I should
pay for repairs to AutoCAD because I am a subscriber. BTW: My guru is a
network guy who has been working for me for three decades. He knows more
about computers, most usual software and networking than any 50 of those
Geeks and/or the worthless product support in some unknown Asian nation.
There is nothing wrong with my computer. He just checked. The problem is
the AutoCAD program itself.
1630 hours: I called AutoCAD sales and dumped a load of ****e on them.
They promised me a call before 0900 tomorrow, basically because it has
taken me so long to find phone support. The normal channel to schedule a
call did not work.
Thanks anyways, guys. It looks as though I will sleep tonight.

Some of this might be a matter of adjusting settings. go into your OPTIONS menu and explore the various tabs. One thing to look for is your noun/verb selection to see how that's set. Another is right-click customization (under the User Preferences tab). There, you can set how the program responds to right-clicks under different circumstances.

A few other things I suspect are ORTHO vs POLAR, and how you enter coordinates and direction. Hit F1 and explore some of these things to brush up on working with them. Good luck!

If by some odd chance my nattering was useful -- that's great, glad to help. But if it actually solved your issue, then please mark my solution as accepted 🙂
