Font changes when I use text edit on dimensions.

I have set up my default dimension style to use Fluxarch font. When I dimension my drawing and then proceed to edit/override the information on the dimension string, the text editor automatically changes my font to Arial. I then have to re-select Fluxarch to change it back. This only happens on dimensions. It does not happen when I move the location of the text, only when I edit the text.

How do I lock the text to my default font in text editor?

Post your DWG with the problem, or a portion of it, lets see your work and your settings.

TIA

It's not an issue with the .DWG file, it an AutoCAD setting. I have tried on different drawings and the same problem.

For further background, I just upgraded and set up the Autocad 2019 LT on Monday. I'm learning all the new settings and variables. I'm sure it's in the override settings, not sure where to look.

I'm upgrading from 2004, there's a lot of new things to learn.

I have created a new drawing using a bathtub block from AutoCAD 2004, This has the same problem, but this was never a problem in that version.

I decided to try something new. I changed my font to something new other than the Flux Architect font.

Once I did this, made a new dimension with the new dim style font. This time when I edited the dimension, it did not override the font of the dimension.

This leaves me thinking it's some kind of glitch with the Flux Architect font in ACAD 2019. I don't understand why this would be, all other aspects of the font appear to function equal or better than they did in ACAD 2004.

Any Ideas?

ZIP and post your font here for others to review: just keep in mind a lot changes in 15-years (2004 to 2019).

I understand and appreciate your comment on 15 years of changes. Much to my surprise, it's not really that big of a change. I expected a much greater learning curve.

I will upload the font. (it's a windows font, not .SHX) I have since posting the original message, been in contact with Autodesk support. I spoke with a tech and walked him through my issue. After 30 minutes, we concluded the problem will need to be brought to the Autodesk developers to research why this one font (Flux Architect) is changed by the Autocad text editor when in dimension format. It behaves normal in text mode.

I say all this to give background to anyone who want's to solve this puzzle. It's not a problem on my system, my drawing or anything specific to me. Add this font and make a dimension using it as the font. Then use text edit to change the distance and watch it change to Arial font. It's strange.

Unfortunately no.

AUTODESK sent this issue to upper level techs and had no explanation. It was explained as a strange glitch with the interface of this font and AUTODESK. They said they would keep working on it and maybe it will be resolved in a future update. So far, nothing has changed. The only work-around is to re-select the correct font after you modify the text. A little annoying, but it does work.

This is interesting, as I have been having the same issue, with the same font. I work in the glazing industry, and I need to add dimension descriptions to my drawing, like "<> frame opening" or "<> frame width". If I add this in the properties window, in the text override area, it works fine, however double clicking the dimension and trying to add the comment that way gets the font change issue.

So until AutoCAD can get this figured out, my work around has been using the text override in properties.

As someone that started drawing by hand, I was pretty proud of my lettering skills, and I wanted my cad drawings to look as close to my hand drawn drawings as possible, and Fluxarch is the font that was closest to my hand lettering. Probably not too many of us around, that started our careers using a drafting machine or even a T-square!

@roblinger We've never seen that issue in our office, so I cannot repeat it in any of our DWG files: can you share a portion of a DWG file with this problem that we can all repeat on demand?
Or is the problem limited to your of custom fonts in those DWG file? I see one of those "hand lettering" fonts in your screenshot, same exact font used by the other fella with the same exact problem, aka a pattern worth investigating on your end by just changing fonts.

The problem appears to be specific to the font Flux architect. I am using a new font now with no issues.

@matthew.korn00Have you found a font similar to Fluxarch?

I agree that it seems limited to this font only.

@pendean

Here is a sample detail. Use one of the horizontal dimensions along the top of the drawing, one that has an actual dimension along with some writing after the numeric dimension. You will also need to download and install the Flux Architect font first. I purposely removed most of the title block info on the layout tab, except for a few select items. I use a different font for the title block, and what I left is typical for all the removed portions of the title block.

Thanks for the file: it appears the solution is to find a different custom font from that FLUX series.
