File will not open

Just installed AutoCAD LT 2017 on a corporate laptop. I go to open a drawing and nothing happens. No error message.  It shows up on the Recent Documents but isn't there?  I can create a drawing and work just fine. but then can't seem to open it.

How are you opening these files? In Windows Explorer? or using the OPEN FILES entry on your screenshot?

Appreciate the quick response.

Either way, doesn't make a difference.  Update, I can create a file, just draw a couple objects and save it. Then I can open the files. I'm going to try to restart the computer and see if I loose the opening capability again.

At this point I'm still able to open the file.  Will continue the investigation and keep you posted.

Are you still having an issue with opening files?

You said that if you start a new drawing and save that locally you are able to open it again?

What happens if you...

Hi @Anonymous,

Have you resolved the problem? It sounds like you are able to create a drawing and save it and even reopen it but not from the recent files list. Is this correct?

Does the list from the File open work properly?

Please update the status of the issue.

The problem still exists.  This morning, I am unable to open any drawings again. This time I can still create a drawing and save it but I cannot close it and reopen it.  in the attached video you can see that when I open a drawing nothing happens.  It shows in the history that I last opened the file this morning but I sure can't find it.

Now I'm up against a hard deadline and will be in trouble if I can't finish my drawings.

How in the world do I elevate this to get help?

When I open the file on my local hard drive it opens.  Now I'm thinking it is something in the way our network is set up perhaps.  I copied the files from the network drive to my local drive and they open.

Arrg.

Suggestions?

Network drive is a....?
Network type is...? if there is a server, which Windows Server OS is it? Or is it another OS?
You are connected to to how?
Looks like you are using Win7, is that Pro or Home?

What suddenly changed other that LT2017? No program, not even LT, suddenly stops opening files on a network drive, something else also changed. Find out.

Hi @Anonymous,

If opening locally works that means there is something wrong on your network. It could be user permissions, storage type (NAS devices are not a supported configuration), network latency, etc.

Please add some details about your network environment and how you are connected to it and also how you have set up the options in AutoCAD to work with the network.
