I keep a shortcut to my drawings folder on my desktop. Ever since I had AutoCAD 2017LT installed, when I am saving a new drawing and click on the shortcut on my desktop, the file name changes to the folder name. I have never seen this before and could use some help figuring it out.
Thanks

HI @Anonymous,
I see that you are visiting as a new member. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!
This is indeed unusual. Is it possible to prepare a Screencast video for me that shows this in action?
I made this a private screencast.
Hopefully I can share it.
I haven't tried this before.
Sheldon
You have to make it "public": private means only you can see it.
What icons are you clicking on when OPEN command's pop-up appears?
It's the shortcut which is doing it. If you don't select the shortcut and just select a directory as normal the file name will not change

Yes, you are correct, but why does this only happen with AutoCAD files?
When I save other files the same way, there is no problem.
Is there a setting I can change to stop this from happening?
Navigating to this folder without a shortcut is very time consuming.
No setting: this is why Autodesk provides this sidebar for you to drop your folder shortcuts into so you can avoid the issue:
Hi @Anonymous,
Perhaps it is worth rebuilding your shortcuts. I use shortcuts on my desktop without any issue.
How do you make your shortcut?

John,
Thanks for your assistance.
I went with Deans solution and it worked very well.
