Posting a .dwg file. Others can open this file completely. This happens on every drawing I try to open.

Hello @Anonymous,

The file did not launch & "open with" AutoCAD, but I opened this file within AutoCAD instead without a problem.

Hello @Anonymous,

I looked into this further for you after my last post.

  1. I opened the file by using the "Open with" selected the "DWG Launcher".
  2. Closed out the application
  3. Then double-clicked the file as usual & it launched AutoCAD opening up the file

So is your AutoCAD just not working with any file, other than this one?
Or is there an error message you need to tell us about?

The file you posted works fine too, see attached.

I have checked several ACAD file drawings. None open more than 30-40% - posted drawing is typical.

You have a software problem, not your files as we all understood your initial post.

What is your exact AutoCAD/LT version?
Windows OS?
What changed on your PC today or since you last used it?
When was the last time you restarted your computer?

What is your exact AutoCAD/LT version? AutoCAD LT 2016

Windows OS? 10

What changed on your PC today or since you last used it? I bought a new computer and imported ACAD to it. Drawings open correctly on old computer. When opening, the screen says Autodesk DWG Trueview 2019. New computer, when I click on drawing, screen says Autodesk LT 2017 and doesn't open correctly. Note major difference I just noticed. Autocad program bought and installed on old computer is LT 2016. That is what shows in File Explorer. I used Export from old machine to new machine. In File Explorer, it says Autocad LT 2017 and the drawings are trying to open in Acad LT 2017.

I made this transfer about a month ago and noticed the drawing opening problem then. Haven't needed Acad much so have just used the old computer as needed. Time now to get 100% on new computer.

When was the last time you restarted your computer? About a week ago.

Hello @Anonymous,

The issue is with the new computer because this issue can not be reproduced.

Can you launch the AutoCAD application by itself & create a new dwg file?

If you can launch it etc., its related to the location or system settings of the files.

  1. Reboot the computer, make sure apps are not auto running in the background
  2. Log in as Administrator (check your permissions, full control) or create a new profile. Verify that you have full control permissions to the file location. If you need assistance contact a IT professional or Microsoft support.

If you can not launch it, then it maybe the installation of the software or the computer's security settings.

  1. Reboot the computer, make sure apps are not auto running in the background
  2. Log in as Administrator (check your permissions, full control) or create a new profile
  3. Make sure you have an uninterrupted & high-speed connection to the internet
  4. Clean out the TEMP folder. To open the TEMP folder, type %TEMP% in the address bar of Windows Start Menu and hit Enter (Windows)
  5. Temporarily disable security settings like Antivirus, Firewall & UAC on your Windows operating system
  6. Test opening the file with AutoCAD, move on to the next step if it doesn't work
  7. Conduct a Clean Uninstall of the previous installation & use the MSfixitTool to complete it
  8. Use the Browser Download Method in your Autodesk Account
