F12 Turns DYNMODE On But Not Off. Holding F12 Does Nothing.

Good morning and thanks in advance for your help.

I'm new to Dynamic Input (it turns itself on every time I start AutoCAD LT 2018). I'm finding I actually don't mind it now. However when I need to cycle snap points I have to turn it off otherwise it cycles between two input variables in the floating command line. That wouldn't be such a hassle if I was able to toggle DYNMODE with a key press. I've read that is the expected behavior of F12 however mine does not toggle.

If DYNMODE is 0 (or off in the menu in the lower right) the F12 key will turn it back on. Once it is on the F12 key does nothing. I have to manually change the DYNMODE or click the little symbol in the lower right; both of which take much longer than a press of F12. Help says I can hold F12 to temporarily disable Dynamic Input but that doesn't work either (I don't have enough hands to do that anyway).

I have found where I can customize the behavior of the F12 key but I have no understanding of how to write macro code. I'm guessing there's a way to re-write it so when I press F12 it toggles DYNMODE between 0 and 3.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I swear three days ago F12 was toggling Dynamic Input as expected.

Do your other "F" keys work as expected, I know on one of my keyboards there is another key that disables F keys, and on my laptop F keys only work in combination with a separate "Fn" key, all very confusing. Besides that, if you have found the F12 macro in the CUI what does it actually have written for the macro. Can you get a screenshot of it.

Seems to work just fine here in LT2018: F12 toggles DYNMODE on/off as it is tapped.

Are you using a wired keyboard that Windows alone is running? Or is it wireless (or a laptop) and its drivers do other things with F-keys?

Thanks for the input guys. I'll clarify.

I'm using a Windows 10 desktop computer with a full-size wired keyboard. All other function keys work as expected and I use them liberally. My keyboard doesn't have an Fn key to toggle function key behavior. Holding shift, ctrl or alt doesn't change F12 behavior.

I've attached a screenshot. This is the only entry I find for the F12 key. The other function entries appear and function as described.

Could it be that DYNMODE has to be set to something other than 1, 2 or 3 for the F12 toggle to work? I've read about a -1 value but help doesn't mention it.

That screenshot looks fine, that's exactly how the macro should be (at least it works with that here - toggling 0 and -1), other than unexpected problems with Autocad I would still be tempted to try another keyboard just to be certain, is there any possibility that another windows program has taken control of the F12 key. Other things to try are changing profiles and workspaces.

Thanks Steven. I only have the one profile; which I migrated from 2017 last week. I tried restarting the computer with no other programs running and F12 still doesn't function properly (turns Dynamic Input on but won't turn it back off). It's likely I'll have to do a repair or reinstall to restore the functionality.

There was an issue like this in previous versions. I'll need to look into some of my notes. 

A quick question, in an AutoCAD default setting environment, does the issue still happen?

Okay. Thanks for the additional input everyone. I went ahead and did a backup and reset. F12 behaves like normal now.

I'll mark this thread as solved but I don't consider it resolved. One should be able to migrate from a previous version without breaking the new version.
