Drawing seems to be stuck in array mode?

Hi everyone, I'm a bit of a novice so please bear with me.

I've been using AutoCAD LT 2008 version and have just started with the 2019 trial version.

I have used the polar array function to pattern 4 identical shapes in a dxf file and I now want to delete some of the shapes but cannot as when I got to select one of the shapes they are all selected and the array function seems to be still active as the drawing shows a faint circle with one blue square and one arrow head in different positions on this circle.  Even if I close and re-open both the drawing and also the AutoCAD program itself the same problem is still there.  What can I do to stop this?

Hi,

i suggest to control your polar arrayed items from the Array contextual appear in the ribbon above ( see below image ) .just select your polar style element then press Array button above there .

try also to use AUDIT and PURGE ( Regapps ) commands to clean your .dwg file .

When this happens what is shown in the command line?  Typing X and hit enter might get you out of the edit.  If you want to erase one element in an array hold CTRL down and pick, then delete.

That's an "Associative" Array.  You can delete some of them with @GrantsPirate's suggestion, and the remaining ones will retain their association with each other.  If you want them all completely independent of each other, you can EXPLODE the Array.  If you don't want Arrays to be Associative at all, the next time you use the command, watch for where one of the options listed is ASsociative, ask for that, and say No [it will remember for the future], or  just use the ARRAYCLASSIC command instead.

Success.  Typing X in the command line and pressing enter took me out of edit mode.

Thanks for all your help.
