dimension text size

Hello everyone, I'm having trouble with my text on the measurements on drawings. So basically I add dimensions in say text and arrow size 100, then draw a smaller item and select a dimension with a text and arrow size of say 20, when I add these smaller dimensions in the larger dimensions automatically change to the small setting. It seems to have started since I installed 2023 but just don't know if I've accidentally changed a setting somewhere. Can anyone help as it is driving me mad.

Are you creating dimension styles for each size you need?

Or are you overwriting the same style every time?

Hi there,

Yes I have created dimension styles for the different text and arrow sizes which I was hoping to simply switch between, I used to be able to go through the quick properties to change the text size but that is now greyed out.

Hello all,

Forgive me as I'm new to AutoCAD.

I looked online for this and can't seem to find a solution. All I can find is to set the dimension text size for the opened drawing.

Is there a way to set the default dimension text style for all future drawings I'll open ?

What happens is I export DXFs from SolidWorks and then open them on AutoCAD to dimension them, but the dimension text size is way too small https://100001.onl/.

@maskabone In AutoCAD, a dimstyle is defined in each single DWG file, there is no universal setting.

But... you can define a uniquely named DIMSTYLE as you like it and wish for it to be in a TEMPLATE file, then instead of just opening a DXF file to edit, you could either reference it into or insert it into that template file to use.

OR... you can import that uniquely named DIMSTYLE from your template into your DXF file using ADCENTER command.
you can import that dimstyle

@minatakry01 Did you actively set your STYLE and DIMSTYLE commands to reflect the sizes you need?
Ask your instructor about text and dimensioning basics, here is a quick overview https://www.dummies.com/article/technology/software/design-software/autocad/text-height-autocad-2221...
and more online https://www.google.com/search?q=autocad+tip%3A+how+to+set+text+height
