Delete layer

AutoCAD LT 2002

I am trying to delete a layer but cannot because this layer supposedly meets one of the four criteria:

Layer 0 and Defpoints (which it is not)
The Current Layer (which it is not)
Xref-dependent layers (According to the Layer Properties Manager)
Layers containing objects (as far as I can tell it doesn't)

How do I get rid of this layer? This is a new file from a template that someone else made. I am trying to change the template also, but it won't let me. In Layers Properties Manager, this layer shows that it is being used under the "Show all used layers" filter.

Please help, thanks.

You have a block definition with an entity on that layer perhaps, or
paperspace content still holding on to it (or a combination of both).

Best way to delete a layer in your older version of LT is to WBLOCK out the
model content you want to create a new file, then look in there: if the
layer is still there, it's a block definition. Rename the file to something
you would use instead.

If Dean's suggestion does not work, post a copy the file and I will take a
look at it. Strip out everything you can that does not have to do with the
problem.
