Creating a shape file from a .dwg.

I am required to provide a .shx shape file of a .dwg drawing of a survey of a subdivision I performed.  Please let me know how I can create a shape file of my drawing.  Can i do this in AutoCAD LT.  If i cant please let me know what i need to do.

Are you sure that what you're being asked to provide is not a shape (SHP file primarily) file, in ESRI format?

Yes, a .shx file is also included in a shapefile, but it has nothing to do with the AutoCAD shape/font SHX files.
