copy paste between drawings

I cannot copy geometry from one drawing to another using clipboard copy paste.  The closest thing I get is a line that I am guessing has all the geometry where every point has the x coordinate missing or zero (and sometimes the y coordinate is missing or zero).  The drawings come from a pdf to dxf conversion by a Catia cad system.  Any suggestions for a newer user

While experimenting, I cannot successfully copy anything from one drawing to another (same result) regardless of origin of drawings.  Product is AutoCAD LT 2017

Some proxy objects can't copy & paste.

Use WBLOCK command or DXFOUT command.

Those commands can export selection objects as copy & paste function.

Autodesk, the wblock and dxf out does not work. I have two existing drawings. I want to copy objects from drawing 1 into drawing 2. Creating a third file is of no use.

I believe what is happening is the objects I am copying are in an X-Y coordinate system and they are pasted into an X-Z coordinate system. What I get is a line of points. This happens even if I use the wblock command to create new files and I try the copy-paste command.

Thanks, dan

Explode All of the objects in your drawing, And then try copy & paste.

Perhaps, I think the certain drawing has a problem.

This Knowledge Documents will give you repair drawing method.

Clipboard copy/paste of objects with a z value should work in LT. Though you can't really use the Z values.

Both drawings have the same base coordinate system (Cartesian). But it is possible that one file has the UCS rotated. Verify that both drawings have the same UCS settings prior copy and pasting. In LT, TOP or WORLD(WCS) should be used since you can't orbit in 3D.

The command UCS and then World will reset it.
