Copy field value to another field

I have 5 fields defined.

containing 5 dates for drawing versions

date1 until date5

Is there a way in AUTOCAD LT to automate the copy action of the content

date4 value to put in date5

date3 value to put in date4

date2 value to put in date3

date1 value to put in date2

or is there a more intelligent way of tracking change dates?

Where are these fields? All in model space or on different layouts

the fields are created in DWGPROPS and put on the  drawing in model space

How would the program guess at when you want to trigger "date4 value to put in date5" to start the process?
Are you planning on manually editing each DWGPROPS entry with each of the new dates for the FIELDs to update? There is nothing built-in to enter those dates into DWGPROPS outside of the pop-up in LT I believe.
FWIW a FIELD is a hands-free passive no-user-input type information seeking function from a source: are you populating your titleblock with a dozen or so "blank but ready to use" fields that will display as ##### (that'show empty fields are shown) for when there is no date in the DWGPROPS entry?

Explain your processes in more detail, post a sample DWG file tied to its DWGPROPS, show us what you have to work with.

I want to track the changes of drawings

in the titleblock I have 5 dates

(in this sample drawing the titleblock appears 2 times but this can be more depending on the need and complexity of the drawing)

process:

last date of the drawing (date1) + 4 previous dates (dates2-5)

when I need to update the drawing I do manually copy the dates from 4 to 5, 3 to 4, 2 to 3, 1 to 2

and put the current date in date1

I also save the file with date1 in the file name

so my question is: can this activity be automated, and the trigger would be a action from the user who decides, on a new date-version.

or is there a more clever way of working with version/revisions/dates foreseen in AUTOCAD?

There is no ability to edit DWGPROPS' Custom Tab's Custom entries' Values entry from inside AutoCADLT or stock AutoCAD. You might be able to start with LISP in AutoCAD, something like this perhaps http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?46065-Add-Custom-Properties-to-Drawing-Properties-dialog-box

Do you create one-off DWG project files for your type of work? I notice you posted a modelspace titleblock drawing. Whenever I have worked with revision dates, they don't actually physically move, a new date is just added either above or below into the list. If you want to physically have them move, I would just move the fields. Diesel does allow some rudimentary programming logic. But doing that inside a field sounds like a lot of work (even if it is possible).

So what is the logic of the fields "moving" a dynamic title block might offer a solution.
