Convert STP file to DWG

Is there any way to convert a STP file to DWG so I can open the file and copy the perimeter of an object. I work in 2D and only need the Perimeter to fabricate a flat cover for the product.

That's a full AutoCAD feature in the IMPORT command, not found in LT.
Ask the STP file creator to change the format for you.

You can do that in SolidWorks I believe.
If you don't have that, there are conversion websites out there that can do it or you, most are not free.
