Cannot Trim Hatch

Can someone try and explain why I am not able to trim a solid hatch pattern within a simple rectangle. See the screencast below. If I can't get this trimmed, I'll have to redo the hatch pattern which takes an hour.

It's impossible to see from your video which is the hatch and how it is in overall shape, which might give more of a clue, and what the objects are you are using as a trim line, individual polylines? or the boundary of the original hatch. Could you post the file or at least to start with give a wider angle view with the hatch selected. And a shot of what the properties are for the hatch.

Yeah still not enough to go on, there must be something within the hatch and we can't see it from just images.

Strange indeed, I wish I could tell you why, but the way to get it to work is to highlight the hatch and then using the hatch grips drag the end of the segment shown circled, away from the edge of the hatch, then trim works just fine, then you can move the end back again.

I sometimes have problems trimming hatch when outer island mode is selected. Normal island Mode seems to help in most instances

Steven...SERIOUSLY?? How...I mean... HOW did you figure that out?!?!?!?!  I'd put a stunned emoticon on here but there isn't one to accurately describe it.

@WarrenGeissler I use other peoples hatches a lot for my work, and highlighting the hatch showed up three grips at that point, and it's just down to previous encounters with hatches that I have seen it cause problems, so that was just the first thing I tried.

Well seriously THANK YOU for showing me a trick I've never seen before. Hatches are the bane of the technical support world.

Another method that works for the trimming of hatch is to click on the existing hatch object and choose select boundary as indicated in the attached screenshot.
