Can't Change Linetype

I cannot change the linetype of the line I made. It is a file created in AutoCAD 2007 and opened in AutoCAD 2014, but I don't think that that has anything to do with it since I also could not change the linetype in AutoCAD 2007.

When I simply create a new file in AutoCAD 2014, I can create a line and change the linetype very easily. I am a fairly inexperienced user with AutoCAD, and so, the solution may be very simple.

Quick guess on limited input .... in layer manager click on the linetype that you want to change ... a dialog will come up with a selection of lines that are already defined in the drawing.  If you don't see the one you want, click on the LOAD selection ... select the desired linetype ... click OK ... back to the selection dialog ... AGAIN select the linetype you want and click OK.  Should show that linetype as current on that layer now.

Also, notice what .lin file is being used (in the load linetype dialog at the top field).

Another thing to check is to make sure the layer you created the line on is not locked. You can draw a line on a locked layer but once it's made, you can't edit it without unlocking the layer.

What line are you trying to change? What linetype do you want?

Any line and any line type.  I just want the ability to change a line.  I can change it in the toolbar, but it won't affect the drawing.

You need to change your linetype scale to see the differant linetypes. Type LTSCALE at the command line and change it to 1000. For this dwg I would use decimal for units and change the insertion scale to feet.

I too am unable to change linetypes even with tytping LTSCALE and setting it to 1000.

Can you post the .dwg? Without seeing your settings it is hard to guess what what the problem might be.

I appeared to have posted it correctly the first time but I didn't see it come through. Did you get it?

I looked at the drawing and by selecting everything and changing the linetype scale in the properties pallet to .0001 the line's showed up. Can I ask why this is drawn in a layout with no viewport? That is why the LTSCALE needs to be set so small.

Your LTSCALE is set to a 1000. I changed it to one. It's still 1 after I close and open the file. What AutoCAD/LT version are you using?
You draw in paperspace (not in a viewport) and not at a 1:1 scale: What size is the 'widget' supposed to be?
LTSCALE probably need to be a lot less than 1 for you to see anything (1/10 starts to show your linetypes). This may simply be a case of a badly drawn object in the wrong space.

The linetype scale had been changed due to reading the previous posts in this thread. Changing this back to 1 (as is default) has no affect on the drawing. I am using AutoCad LT 2014. Not sure if that makes a difference.

I'm having some issues as well with changing the linetype scale.

I have tried lts scale and changing the individual linetype scale in properties but nothing has worked.

Can you look at my file I attached to see what can be done?

I don't know how you want it to show in your drawing but the ltscale works fine. You just need to try different values. When I test to try to get the results I want, I usually try values like this: 1, 10, 100, 1000, .01, .001, .0001 when I find a value where it makes a visual change then I tweak it to what I want. If ltscale 100 makes some linetypes show up then I'll try 80 or 120 and tweak from there up or down. I put 50 in from your and I think I ended up in the 30 for a good result, but I don't know how you want it to look. Sometimes the linetypes will go away after you have it set right. You can do a command REGENALL to have it refresh correctly again.
