Block Listing

Hello,

Is there a way to get a list of blocks in a drawing?  (like the layers or xref lists)

I want to rename some blocks to clean up a file but don't want to edit, save as, then purge the one with the old name.  (searched for a while but couldn't find a solution)

Thank you

The only way I can think of to do it that you could print out would be to do a QSELECT - block reference - select all and then use the list command. If you set the system variable QAFLAGS to 2 before you do it you will not have to hit enter to keep listing them. Copy the list to notepad. It will take some clean up but you could get the list. If you have access to full autocad, it would be easy to do with data extraction.

If you really need a list of names of defined blocks:
Command: -BLOCK
option ?

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, that does not give me what I
am looking for. I am looking for something like the layer properties
manager, but for blocks.

Ok, you wrote:

A Block (BlockDEFINITION, not a BlockREFERENCE) has no color, no linetypes and so on, not in user world.

So what do you want to see in that "Block properties palette"?
The Name, ok.
The Blockunit?
Annotative yes/no?
What more?

And for what? The answer will help to find us a workaround as solution, but in LT i haven't hope.

If you mean BLOCK REFERENCE, thats not compareable with Layers.
That properties you can export if we talk about blockreferences with variable attributes.
Command: -attext [F1]

Block unit
Annotative yes/no,
These you can only see in BLOCK command for one block, not as list (select your Blockname)

Or inside BEdit, properties palette.

Sorry

I'm sure the RENAME command does what you are describing. It gives you a list of all blocknames. You can select a block and give it a new name. What else are you wanting to do with the list?
