Batch plotting

Trying to do a batch plot for a dwg. package I'm working on and I get this message:  

"Your request could not be completed due to an unexpected problem.  Turn off background plotting and try to plot again."

Any idea what this is and how to resolve it?  I've tried closing autocad and reopening the dwg. file.  but the problem persists.
