Basic lineweight problem

Hi, I am completely self taught in CAD and am struggling to get a lineweight matched up with two different lines.

I've got a line that has been drawn as default weight and ByLayer and I want them both to match.

Straight line properties shown below:

Line weight still shows the same even if I manually change the weight of both to match.

I have done a search and can't see this exact issue as I imagine it may be too basic for most to ask. Any help appreciated. I can post the drawing if required.

Arc properties below:

When exported to PDF it shows as expected and shows as heavier than the other when I toggle F5.

In your first image, you show a POLYLINE object with an assigned width (a feature of that object type in AutoCAD).

In your second screenshot, you show an ARC object, an object type that has no assign-able width in AutoCAD.

Neither is what are defined as LINEWEIGHTs in AutoCAD, LWEIGHT command and LWDISPLAY command are the two commands you need to do "line weights" (and in PLOT and PAGESETUP commands, which 'export to pdf' uses for settings, there is a box that needs to be checked to print LWEIGHT command settings to objects).

You also need to decide to either commit to LWEIGHT command settings on POLYLINE objects or use the WIDTH settings in POLYLINE command, you should never ever use both if you are not 100% confident about what it is you are about to generate.

Are you saying you want the ARC to have the same line width as the line segment?

Are you aware that your line segment is actually a PLINE which is drawn with a width factor of 0.5:

You can use PEDIT command, select the ARC and change that into a PLINE and specify the same width as 0.5 to match

To add to the other comments:

We don't generally use lineweights, our line thickness is decided by the line colours, which has a set 'lineweight' in the plot style table.

For example, red lines will always print lighter than white lines in our drawings, and yellow and green print in between those as well.

You can set up a plot style table for A4, A3, A0,.. sizes.
Read up on it here: https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Use-plot-style-tab...
