AutoCAD LT - Slow Regen/Exiting Block Editor

Hi,

Myself and my colleagues are running into an issue with AutoCAD running incredibly slow when REGEN'ing and exiting Block Editor on some of our files. This seems to occur on larger files, especially those with Dynamic Blocks. We use AutoCAD LT 2015 (unfortunately), and work off of files on our network. I have tried purging the files, auditing, etc to find a solution hwoever nothing has resolved the issue. This is particularly frustrating when Viewports regenerate, with the system taking around 3-5mins to "load" the xrefs.

Any suggestions on how to improve the performance/speed of these files would be amazing.

Is LT2015 fully patched and updated?
Are you running on a Win7 PC with 4GB ram or less?

Larger files is probably the incorrect way of describing the file, sorry. We have multiple dynamic blocks, blocks, and a lot of elevations (we're an interior design firm) drawn on the file. The regen/exiting block editor seems to slow down as we've introduced the dynamic blocks.

Excellent PC specs: is this a sudden new problem? LT2015 is not new, WIn7 is not new.

What is a typical file size in MB?

All that content is one file is not a good workflow methodology ti implement: all eggs in one basket type problems. Any reason you all don't use XREFs?

It isn't unfortunately. It's happened previously on other files, so it isn't a new issue. The current file is around 1.4MB, it also has multiple copies of an xref on it which the elevations have been drawn from (the xref'd file is around 1.4MB too)

Where do you all store your files? Those are small file sizes.
Do you have LINESMOOTING and LINEFADING variables turned off in LT2015 yet? Worth doing.
Do you have hardware acceleration on? Turn that off and see if that helps.

You mention being slow after introducing dynamic blocks how many are used in the drawing? They can really slow a drawing down when you have many of them.

- REGEN before entering Block Editor

- REGEN before exiting ...

All files are stored on the network server, however the problem still occurs when it is stored locally. I have tried turning the LINESMOOTHING variable off, and Hardware Accelerator also, but this doesn't improve the performance.

We are using around 4-5 Dynamic Blocks, each of which are not too heavy in terms of the actions (generally just stretch actions). However the issue occurs even when we only have 1 Dynamic Block on the drawing, but the REGEN isn't as slow.

Unfortunately that wouldn't help the issue as it is specially the REGEN which is the issue here... having to REGEN twice would only double the issue. 

Thanks for the suggestions; it seems a bit illogical for AutoCAD to have the Dynamic Block feature when it has such an effect on the performance... This might only be isolated to AutoCAD LT, but if anything else comes to mind which might be causing the problem, please throw over the suggestions!

Just to be clear it's not just the different types of dynamic block it's how many copies of that block are used in a drawing, so when you say it is a problem with just one dynamic block, do you mean just one physical block in a drawing or are there lots of blocks just of one name. The problem I mention is due to dynamic blocks, each instance becomes an annonymous block, when you alter a dynamic property, even if you have 100 copies all with the same stretch amount, it results in 100 individual blocks that Autocad has to update and that causes the issue. And when that one block has lots of variations the problem compounds.
