AutoCAD LT and Inventor - Long wait times to open the "open" and "save as" dialog box

I am using AutoCAD LT 2021 and Inventor LT 2014. I mainly only use AutoCAD but I just noticed this problem was happening on Inventor also this morning. I am running on a new PC that is well equip'ed and has plenty of room on the hard drive to run AutoCAD so I know it is not a hardware issue.

If I already have AutoCAD open and then I go to either open a new file or go to save-as, it will legitimately take 2-3 minutes just to open the dialog box. When it is open, it runs totally fine. I have zero issues moving around within the dialog. AutoCAD in general is running smooth and not showing any other issues. I can open my file explorer dialog box and move around in there totally fine. I can open .dwg files from there and then it will open a new AutoCAD window, which this method is currently quicker for opening. I have not found a work around for the save-as yet though.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what actions I can take to get this issue fixed?? I have already gone through the forums where I found others experiencing the same problem but it seemed like it was more hardware related.

Thanks!

When you installed and first ran LT2021, it offered to migrate content from an older version: did you opt in to do that?

OPEN and SAVEAS commands take a long time because your OS and AutoCAD/LT are trying to resolve dead links, unavailable folders and more before letting LT2021 do its task more often than not.

That I can't remember...I am thinking that I would have opted in to that though. It was the beginning of last year that we updated from LT2014 to LT2021. Was that the correct thing to do?

So really, until any and all deadlinks and older folders are resolved, there won't be much of anything that I can do?

You NEVER want to do the migration thing IMHO.

Have you tried to RESET LT2021 https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-r...

Also ensure you grab the LT2021.1 update from your Account page then install it.

Remember to restart your computer after any of both of the above.

So I have done both suggestions and there are still long load/save-as times. Would the next potential fix be to uninstall CAD and re-install it?

Two other things to try:
1) disconnect your PC from your network/internet and try to replicate the issue with local files. Still an issue?
2) Plug back into your network/internet, then create and log into your PC as an all new user account with admin rights: now try to repeat the issues, still there?

Okay, so I just unplugged my PC from the world-wide web and AutoCAD loaded a lot faster! I could start a new drawing quicker and load/save-as a much faster. I am curious to know why this is.

That usually means your OS (and possibly your AutoCAD session) is having a hard time connecting to 'something' in your OS and/or LT program paths (dead links, dead folders, missing drives, dead printer drivers, abandoned network drives, some wire or wireless device that goes to sleep/powers down often, or...).

Do you have access to an IT person to help you dig deeper into your system?

Okay, I see. Yes, my company does have an IT company that we use for computer issues. I will speak with my boss and see about having them take a look at my computer. Thanks for your help!
