AutoCAD LT 2023 - Trim Extend revert back to AutoCAD 2018 setting

I have recently upgraded to AutoCAD LT 2023 from 2018.  The Trim and Extend commands have changed with 2023 in that now hitting T (or X - same problem) automatically selects all objects.  In order to choose individual T or X boundaries, you must select them before starting the T or X command.  Not a fan at all, since my brain has been drafting the other way for 25 years.  How do I switch back?  Also not a fan of the new fenceline for what you want T'd or X'd - you need to hold your mouse down instead of just picking the two points - even the crossing polygon is gone.  Can I revert back to the 2018 settings??  Thank you.

After starting the TRIM command look at the command line and select O for Mode and change it to Standard.

Hi,

There are two modes that you can use to trim objects, Quick mode and Standard mode. The TRIMEXTENDMODE system variable controls whether the TRIM command defaults to Quick or Standard behavior.

HELP in LT2023 explains what has changed since your 2018 use, here is that relevant section

So I toggled TRIMEXTENDMODE back to 0 and it seems to work again.  Unfortunately it still considers the extension of all lines to infinity as possible edges, so I may have to trim a line a few times to get it where I want - but that is manageable.  (Unless, that is a toggle mode as well???).  Thank you very much. this was helpful.

@margaretten EDGEMODE variable: usage is explained in HELP, works the same way it did in 2018 for you.
