AutoCAD LT 2023 Dimension copy issues

I upgraded my subscription of AutoCAD LT, from 2022 to 2023. I do a lot of interior glass and glazing drawings, where I will have similar glass sizes repeated in the elevations on my shop drawings. In previous versions of AutoCAD, I would copy the dimensions and place them where I need them, without an issue. Since upgrading, when I try to copy any dimension, it looks like it works while I am in the process of copying, however once I place my last dimension, I realize that some of the copies worked, while others have copied, but stay attached to the original points. See the attached pictures. I have never had an issue while doing this in the past. Maybe time to move back to 2022 for a while, until some of these bugs can get taken care of.

Not sure if there is a problem on my end, but I don't see any attachments or inline images.

Can you confirm that 2D and 3D Object snap are disabled, while doing your copies?

@roblinger Like older versions would do on occasion too, it appears your DIM object associations are shifting for some reason.

Do this exact test with these exact files with these exact dimensions in your older LT2022 and see if it is reproducible.

Sorry, I let this slip a few days.

@pendeanit isn't the older version that's having the problem. This file was originally drawn in AutoCAD LT 2023.

This morning I was able to try to copy a series of dimensions in the same file, in both AutoCAD LT 2022 and 2023, and just as I thought would happen, 2022 worked fine, while 2023 gave me the same results of having a few of the dimensions remained anchored to the original points.

What's funny is, if I only copied the set of dimensions just one time, it works fine, but when I copied it more than once, it not only had the issue that I've been having, but it also took the first copy and extended a few of the dimension lines. Also, if I selected that single copied group of dimensions and made another single copy, it would work fine again, BUT if I tried to make multiple copies of the original copies, it changes all copies, even the original copies that were fine earlier, see the last picture.

I'm hoping this makes sense!

Can you share an actual DWG file that exhibits the problem? I'm not able to reproduce it at all in my own files.

What is your exact step by step process to repeat your issue?

Hmmm. What I do is just grab all the dimensions by placing a fence around them, and then hit Copy. Not that it should matter, but the ones I did this morning were from the elevation in the bottom right corner (elevation 5), but like I said, that shouldn't matter.

Wonder if I should uninstall and reinstall 2023?

I'll go ahead and follow that link and get something started. I even tried it with a new file, and I get the same results. I'm officially stumped.

I already got an answer back from AutoDesk Support. He was indeed able to reproduce the issue, and came back with the following:

Hi Rob,

If you run the DIMDISASSOCIATE command and select all the dimensions the associativity is removed so the issue no longer occurs.

It looks like almost all your dimension are not associative anyway so it shouldn't cause any issues with the way you work.

To prevent the issue occurring again, you can set DIMASSOC to 1.

After trying what he suggested and then trying to make the copies, AutoCAD 2023 is working like it did in 2022!

I have the same problem but I work in paper space.

you cannot change dimassoc from 2 to 1 in paper space because the dimension will scale incorrectly.

So, this solution does not work when copying dimensions in paper space.
