AutoCad Lt 2019 laptop

We are looking at a laptop to run AutoCad Lt 2019 and are reading the basic requirements for LT at 2.5-2.9 GHz.  One of the machines we are looking at has an Intel Core i7-8550U @ 1.80GHz quad core processor.  Is this going to be incapable of running the program properly?

Thank you

Depends, is this for a casual user that does not need to work all day in the program?

Basic AutoCAD system requirements for an average user:
An i5 or i7 processor running at 3GHZ or higher native clock speed.
8GB Ram
A video card with 2GB Ram or more.
If a laptop, 15" screen minimum size: if you want to use it with an external monitor (so you can get a smaller laptop screen), you need to make sure the external monitor can be run at HD display settings (not the low end 1024x768 common on cheap laptops).
A harddrive large enough to hold all of your files: 500GB is good, 1TB is better.

My personal 'upgraded' suggestions for 90% of users out there (you can always add more if you feel you can justify it):
Desktop: i7-7700 clocked up to 4.2Ghz, 16GB RAM (minimum), 512GB SSD (minimum), GTX1080 4GB or Quadro M2000 4GB (minimum)
Laptop: i7-6820HQ, 16GB RAM (minimum), 512GB SSD (minimum), Quadro M2000M 2GB or FirePro W5170M 2GB (minimum)

Thank you for the fast reply pendean.

The laptop would be used for a few hours work here and there.  The desktops would be doing all the heavy lifting.  It's more of a keeping up while on holiday and away from the office or at client's properties.

Would a spec like that below be more adequate?  Although not 16gb the rest seem like a good uplift from the first machine we were looking at.

  • Intel® Core™ i7-7700HQ Processor
  • RAM: 8 GB / Storage: 1 TB HDD & 128 GB SSD
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050M 4 GB

Yes, I believe your revised spec should be good for the out-of-office travel use you have outlined.
