AutoCAD LT 2016 - FATAL ERROR when trying to open a file. acismobj20.dbx

When I try to open a file from within AutoCAD LT, I get a FATAL ERROR that reads:

FATAL ERROR: (0x7feeb150005) c:\...\acismobj20.dbx

and then the program quits. I also get this error when trying to open the xref panel. Any solutions? Thanks.

Which version of LT?
Which version of Windows?
Is this a new problem? An old problem? an occasional problem? Or is LT new or PC new?
Does the problem exist if you try to open a different file?

By chnce do you have trouble creating Wipeouts in LT?

AutoCAD LT 2016.

Windows 7 Pro.

PC is not new, but LT is. This issue has been constant since the download. I tried a complete fresh install, but the problem persists. Consistent for all files.

Yes, I encounter the same problem (FATAL ERROR: c:\..\acismobj20.dbx) when trying to create a wipeout.

I followed all the steps to remove and reinstall, but there is no change in my problem.

Hmmm.

I don't think any of these apply but have a look for yourself and experiment while you wait for others to jump in http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Fatal-E...

Did you ever find a solution to this problem?? I'm having the same problem now, running AutoCAD LT 2011, on Windows 11.  Problem just started last week, on files we've been opening for days, months, years, without problem.

I copied the .dbx file from our other computer that files open fine on, and that made no difference.  I reinstalled LT on my computer, made no difference.

Also - coincidentally, or related? - getting proxy graphics errors on files that have never had that problem before.

Years in Win11? Really? How's that!

LT2011 is not supported in Win11: what that means is when Microsoft decides to do an update, your old software may break: looks like you tried everything to fix it except for trying to find out how to better run unsupported old software in Win11. The latter should be your next steps: sites like this may help (they also sell a fix) https://longbowsoftware.com/ and https://blog.longbowsoftware.com/

as would Microsoft user Forums/Communities and others where folks like you are trying to do the same thing.

Good luck.

I have the same problem in Windows 11 22H2, AutoCAD LT 2016 - FATAL ERROR when trying to open a file: acismobj20.dbx. Is AutoCAD LT 2016 not supported in Windows 11 22H2?

It was absolutely the Windows 11 update that killed AutoCAD 2011LT for me.  I had to completely uninstall windows (which meant days of reloading all my software).  My husband's computer was running it fine on windows11 WITHOUT the 2nd update, so we know that was it.  I went back to running Win10 just to be safe.  His is running on Win11, and we have turned all updates off.

I meant it was a new problem on the computer...  not the old files (some of which we'd also recently opened).  Files that were opened the day before on both computers, but only after the update wouldn't open on my computer.  Not that I'd been using Win11 for years.

Since I just want to view the dwg file, I installed a free CAD viewer, eDrawings,

(https://www.edrawingsviewer.com/view-cad-files-free), and I could open the dwg files

created after Windows 11 22H2 update, without going back to Windows 10 or Windows 11 22H1.

I will have to wail until Windows 11 is updated for this problem.

Accoring to Autodesk Customer Support, they support versions 2023/2022/2021/2020 only,

and version 2016 is supported upto Windows 10 with Sevice Pack 1.

I've just encountered the problem when I upgrade my pc from Windows 10 to 11 yesterday. My error involves 'acismobj20.dbx' when I tried to open a dwg file. I'm using AutoCAD LT 2015 all this while. Tried to Repair and Reinstall but the problem didn't solved.

What I've done next is hit the 'Reset Settings to Default' in Autodesk Start Menu and let the program reset to it's default state. I can then open the dwg files without error.

Remember to not to Export/Import your custom settings to use with the newly reset to default state AutoCAD as the error will persist again. You need to manually arrange back your toolbars (I use Classic Workspace) and copy any saved Plot Styles to its designated folder.

Best of luck!

I tried 'Reset Settings to Default', but the problem didn't solve yet.

Instead I installed the DWG TrueView to view my DWG file.

I had the exact same problem with LT 2015 running on Windows 11. It's solved by uninstalling your 64bit LT and installing the 32bit version using the Longbow solution - https://blog.longbowsoftware.com/autocad-lt-2015-on-windows-11-fatal-error-acismobj20-dbx/

I presume it's the same problem/solution for LT 2011, 2012, 2013, etc

(1) I tried to open the .dwg file again, and now I got an error message of 'acsceneoe.dbx' instead of 'acismobj20.dbx'.

(2) I also tried 'Reset Settings to Default', but it did not solve the problem yet.

1) Win11? Roll back to Win10 ASAP if the solution in message 17 above is not working for you.
2) Do you have this installed? A requirement for old 2016 https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad-lt/troubleshooting/caas/downloads/content/autocad-lt-...
