AutoCAD 2017 LT Zooming Issue

My AutoCAD is freaking out on me! When I use the mouse wheel to zoom (like I've been doing for 20 years) it will all of a sudden zoom in or out like crazy. I can't get it under control. I do not have issues in any other program on my computer so I am assuming it's an AutoCAD thing. Every time I think I have it under control it's wig out again. I've been searching on here for anyone with a similar issue and found nothing. I've Google searched it and found nothing. I can NOT be the only one with this issue.

Anyone know anything about this???!!!!

Try a different mouse and/or try lowering the ZOOMFACTOR variable.

Rob

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

What is your ZOOMFACTOR variable set to?

Intial value is <60>

You can set it according to your preference. (3 to 100 is the limit)

It is set to 60. I've never messed with that before. It just started doing this randomly a little while back. NO idea why.

I've been using the same mouse for quite a long time now. This zooming thing just started out of no where. It's really annoying and making it hard to get my work done. I have never messed with the zoomfactor. It is at the default of 60.

>>>... I have never messed with the zoomfactor....<<<
Why not: it's not set in stone, it's there to be changed, why not change it starting today and take control of your destiny?
I use a setting of 30 for Zoomfactor here myself, others in my office prefer 15, one fella likes 70 for some crazy reason 🙂

@katzconsulting78,

To try to understand why it happened, did any new or recent updates happen to your system or to programs on your system?

Are you on the most recent build for AutoCAD LT 2017?

I am on AutoCAD LT 2017.

I have tried to think about what is different and can't come up with
anything. It had done it a while back and then stopped so I forgot about
it. Now it's doing it A LOT.

At first I thought it was because I had another window "active" and then
tried to scroll in AutoCAD without clicking into the program, but no that's
not it. Sometimes closing AutoCAD down and then reopening it helps, but
only for a while. The most annoying thing (beside the craziness of it) is
that it stops and starts randomly.

I've tried the ZOOMFACTOR thing and nope, doesn't help.

I have the cloud version of AutoCAD and I am currently using LT 2017. Has anyone else been having this issue?

I kept searching to see if anyone else has posted about this problem and found one from JimAU "Erratic mouse wheel zoom". This is one temporary solution that someone posted:

Guess I'll just have to do this for now until someone figures out what is going on and can fix it 😞

Use 2017 all day long here. Not seeing it.

Sounds like something else is perhaps running: next time it happens, restart LT2017 or your PC and see if the problem goes away.

When I had Logitech mice, I didn't install the software because of stuff like this.

I tried to have a colleague test a Logitech mouse on Windows machine and Mac for a few days, he didn't seem to have an issue...

I think it varies depending on different system set-ups hardware.

I did some research lets see if any of the options help... Let me know

Workaround suggestion #1:

"To correct this problem, disable the left and right motion of the scroll wheel in the mouse settings. You will then be able to pan normally."

AKN reference

Workaround suggestions #2:

Press F5/F6 to restore the previous view or use Zoom All instead of Zoom Extents.

AKN reference

Workaround suggestions #3:

Clean up temp folder and cache folder

Run AutoCAD in a diagnostic start-up with just AutoCAD LT, see if the issue happens in that environment.
