AutoCAD 2016 - Remapping CTRL+F to "Find"

With AutoCAD 2016, I cannot type in CTRL+F into the dialog box for the shortcut keys.  How can I make this keyboard shortcut work the way it should?

CTRL+F toggles OSNAP on/off in AutoCAD: CUI command's Keyboard Shortcuts section may or may not allow you to change it, explore an experiment.

Thanks for quick respone.  I thought that past verions would accept CTRL+F.  I will have to accept CTRL+G.  It is curious that I can remap CTRL+G and not CTRL+F.

It certainly works in 2013LT, but I have had the dialogue refuse shortcuts before and found that typing directly in the access keys box works.

You need to close the dialogue to do this, it is only in the image to show the two places.

Thanks for all the support.  I got it to work by perserverence.  I got it to take SHFT+F (???) in the access keys box and after that I was able to type CTRL+F into the main dialog box and it worked!  I had of course tried typing it in here and in the access box numerous times.  It seems persnickety.

Yea, when I was plying around with your query I found the dialogs to change the keystroke to be quite cumbersome as well.

Creating On/Off single stroke switches has been an ongoing query here for years and I do not think anyone has created a simple solution ro way to go about it.

if you want CTRL+F to be a shortcut for Find ( I do ) ( 2014 )

Tools >  Customise > Interface

Expand Keyboard Shortcuts

You will see two sets, Shortcut Keys and Temporary Override Keys

If you expand all the Shortcut Keys, you will see all the CTRL shortcuts

If you expand the Temporary Overrides, you will see no CTRL shortcuts.

That's because you can't actually make CTRL short cuts in the Temporary Overrides page. Acad won't let you. Try, Create a Temporary Override, navigate to the Properties Box, Highlight Keys, click on the box on the far right to open a dialogue, you can't press CTRL+F, you can make a SHIFT shortcut.

BUT

You can overwrite an existing Shortcut key. There seem to be a couple that I never use eg CTRL+H.

Rename CTRL+H ( or another one ) to 'Find', go to the Properties box below, highlight Keys, open the Keys dialogue Box ( icon on the far right .. three dots ) and press CTRL+F, then Okay...

You're done : you now have CTRL+F as a Text Find shortcut

They now have the option to right click on a short-cut and duplicate it, then just edit it for the the shortcut and the command you like it to run.  Thanks to your post I was able to do this. @upgbt-autocad
