Auto-renaming of new layers

Good morning.

About a week ago I noticed that when I create new layers in Layer Properties it no longer automatically selects it so I can type in the new layer name. It still creates the new layer named Layer1 but I have to find it every time in the list and manually select to rename it.  I'm assuming a setting has changed somewhere, but for the life of me I can't find out where. Any help would be much appreciated.

I am using AutoCAD LT 2022.

Kind regards,

Nick

I typically select the layer I want to have similar properties like the color, then right mouse click and select New Layer. Layer1 then appears selected to be given a new name. What steps do you take to add a new layer in the Layer palette?

Hi Paul.

Many thanks for your reply. I do exactly the same as you. The difference is that when it creates Layer1 it is no longer selected. It always was, just not in the last week. To rename the new layer I now have to scroll down to find Layer1 then right-click on it and select rename. It makes the entire process a lot slower than it used to be. I have no idea why it has changed as I have not changed anything to my knowledge or performed any software updates.

Regards,

Nick

Also what happens in a new dwg with only layer 0?

Please test it again with this set up:

Only one monitor (best for a test) or all monitors on FullHD resolution

No Scaling of gui (no dialog scaleing, Text/DPI Scaling), all 100%

Try it again..

Hi Paul.

I have the latest version (2022.1.2) and the issue is the same with a new DWG.

Hi Cadffm, Paul & Pendean.

Thank you for taking the time to reply with suggestions of a fix. Over the weekend I decided to upgrade to LT 2024 and the issue has now gone.
