Attribute definition driving Dynamic Block dimensions

I am trying to createA dynamic bloc Window elevation with dimensions driven by the attribute definitions, is this Possible or am I just dreaming ahead of my time.

My Idea is to be able to insert a block and have a prompt pop up for the window width, height, louver height, and sill height. I have attached the file of the dynamic block I created. This is actually just phase 1 of my plan to use AutoCAD to further automate our process, I hope it's possible..

Dynamic blocks don't have pop-ups.
If you need pop-ups, you probably don't need Dynamic Blocks. Or even start with a block.
Pop-ups are not possible to create in AutoCADLT.
If you want to pony up for full AutoCAD and learn programming languages it offers, your dream might have a better chance of coming to fruition.

Q: how is typing a laundry list of required stats any quicker than using a fully developed Dynamic Block (which yours could use at the louvers section)?

Hope these explain things well.

I'm afraid it's just a dream, dynamic properties of blocks can only be controlled manually and not on insertion, you can fill in attributes on insertion but they can't drive dynamic properties. Not in LT, but one thing that is possible and maybe useful is to have a toolpalette set up with your block but different copies having several "sizes" as standard so you can insert from a toolpalette.

I am trying to get my company to get the full version but to no success. So I am saving for my own copy, I will revisit this dream another time. I thank you for your feed back in the mean time.

FYI

there is more to this dream the dynamic block is just the visual representation, I want another program to be able to create these drawings using these blocks some (Automating the process in return). I don't think I can do it so I have been looking for other ways to improve efficiency, I know there is a way and I will find it...

I am looking in to this do you have some comprehensive tutorial links available you could send me on it. I am eager to learn any addition knowledge of AutoCAD functions that could be useful now or in the future

Placing blocks onto a toolpalette should be as easy as draging them from model space onto a toolpalette, or you can use ADCenter to automatically create a toolpalette from blocks in existing drawings, the trick is once a dynamic block is loaded into a toolpalette, if you right click and select properties then you scroll down to the custom section and you can change the values there and that is the value used when you insert the block by clicking on the icon, so if you copy paste a number of these in a toolpalette you can set them to different values. I don't know of any comprehensive links justs lots of small snippets of information all over the web, and a goole search for specific questions usually turns up something. Here's a starter, just a word of warning if you start down this path it will keep you busy for years Smiley Wink

I have created my first Dynamic Block Tool Palette Thank you for all you help. It's not quite what I was originally looking for but will increase productivity of the drafters in my division I am building my library before I bring it to the brass should be able to implement it by this time next week. Thanks again!

um so in my excitement lets just say hypothetically I deleted all the other tool palettes, how do I get them back you know if I ever need them...

hypothetically speaking of course.

Then hypothetically speaking your pretty much up the creek without a paddle, usually when you try and delete a palette you get the warning, that this will result in the palette being permanently deleted unless you first export it. However If hypothetically speaking you did do that, you won't do it twice Smiley Wink

However if you should have just turned off a palette then right clicking on an empty area within a palette and choosing "customize palettes" will bring up a dialogue that shows all the palettes that are available and lets you create new palette groups, and drag and drop palettes into different groups. And when you get used to that, then creating palette groups and adding macros to swap palette groups makes a really powerful way of organising things.

If you have accidently deleted palettes then if they are available on another machine they could be exported from there and then copied to another computer.
