Arraypath

I am trying to set an array of circles to follow the path of an octagon with 40 evenly spaced circles around the octagon using arraypath. When I make the array the space in between the circles automatically sets it self so that the circles aren't evenly distributed and I can't place more than 32 circles in the array. Everything I can find says the objects in the array should fill the path of the array why won't mine do this it seems to end half way through the last edge of the octagon. Please help

Change it from Measure to Divide, type in the number of items desired.
