Annotative Scale problems

I am using annotative text. For architectural scales I have no problem.

But I am unable to find the annotative scale for 1"=20'.

I tried 1:20 but its not correct.

Attached is my scale list.

What am I missing?

m

If you scroll down that list there should be an item at the bottom labeled "custom" if you click that it will open up another dialogue and you will then be able to add a new scale to the list and fill in the sizes you require and name it.

1:20 is probably indicating a ratio. This is not the same as 1"=20', which is a ratio of 1:240

You can make your own scale list entry.

Note that the name of a scale list entry is simply a name. You can make your own and call it "joe" or "aslh$sjfh" if you want. IOW - don't assume that the name is a reflection of the actual ratio assigned.

Thanks for the replies.

In adding a new scale it wants to know paper units = drawing units.

I do not know what values to use in these fields for 1"=20'.

Thanks,

m

As noted in the reply above yours, you want 1:240
20-feet = 20x12-inches = 240, aka paper scale
Assuming you draft in modelspace at 1:1 scale of course.

Thank-you all for the help.

Got it to work.

I think what initially caused confusion was that standard engineers scales aren't included in the scale list.

I thought they would be, but other than the standard architectural scales, it appears to be a random collection of weird scales.

So we have to create a scale for every engineers scale that we use, got it.

Yeah, it's been a mess since they were introduced. Scales get imported from xrefs, and they can multiple into the hundreds or maybe even thousands.

We wrote a startup routine a long time ago that strips all scales from the drawing and only adds the desired ones based on some criteria.

Cheers.

FYI

1:20 is a standard metric scale, life is so much easier in metric 1:1 actual size, 1:2 half size, 1:5 one fifth (or twenty percent),  1:10 ten percent,  etc...
