ACAD Insert Gallery not sorting A-Z

Was looking at features that are new since we just jumped from ACAD LT 2014 to ACAD LT 2017.

One of the things I see is the galleries on the ribbon.  While the Text Styles, Dim Styles, etc. all appear to be alphabetically sorted, the Insert Gallery is sorted by when the block was made, not by it's name.  If you have more than a handful of blocks in a drawing, this makes finding them in this system impossible and instantly makes me go back to the old dialog box for searching for the block since it seems to understand that they should be A-Z order.

Is there any way to make ACAD sort these "properly"?

Thanks,

-J

Hi Jon,

I can duplicate what you are seeing and I believe that it is functioning as designed. Different sort options would definitely be helpful and I encourage you to submit this request.

Well, it SHOULD be honoring the value of the MAXSORT sysvar, but it doesn't seem to do so. While you wait, set GALLERYVIEW to 0.

Good to see it's not just my machine but instead built-in silliness.

We turn off the galleries for the same reason: been like that since LT2016 when they were introduced.

I'm beginning to wonder if the men and women with their hands in the code are even aware of old sysvars like MAXSORT and EXPERT.....

I used to be an independent consultant for Autodesk up until about 10 years ago when I moved out of state.  I knew many of the software engineers and had direct dealings with their lead programers.  On more than one occasion I was asked about going behind the building to share a little something and was blantantly told that without that "break" at least once or twice a day they couldn't properly code.  I couldn't understand how they could properly code being impared like that personally.  So, anytime I see silly things like this I can't help but think back to then and question whether they are still doing their impromptu breaks or not.
