I want to do some 3D modelling and all tutorials say set 3D Modelling Workspace in the toolbar at the bottom. I don't have 3D Modelling workspace to select anyone any ideas how to get it visible OR set it up

The tutorials are for Full AutoCAD, you know, the one that costs 4-times as much as LT: there is not such workspace or features in LT to set up.

OP if you truly have LT you can do a pseudo-3D. You can draw 3D wireframe, and by giving a closed polyline a thickness, you can imitate a 3D object (albeit hollow). You can also open DWGs that have 3D objects in them, and do basic manipulation, such as exploding to 3D surfaces, which can be used like paper maché. You also have several basic shading modes you can use for viewing, and can set the UCS and various 3D viewpoints. There's not much need to come up with a 3D workspace, but you could create a layout worksheet with several 3D views in it, if that owuld help.

What you can't do is create 3D objects beyond wireframe, nor use the more in-depth rendering tools nor apply material textures etc etc...

That is a horrible thing to say to someone. Dont you like AutoCAD LT? Shame on you. Smiley Wink

Having said that, it would be handy to have some form of 3d facility in LT, even if it is read only.

LT can very much 'read' and manipulate 3D objects created in full AutoCAD: it just cannot create them from scratch or have access to any specialty editing options.

Well, that'll teach me. I didnt realise that you could manipulate 3D objects in LT. Does that include AutoCAD LT 2010?

And I apologise for questioning your LT enthusisam - how very dare I?

As long as LT has been around it's had that ability: as always though, any version-specific new objects get knocked down to "proxy object' status in older LT seats (but I'm not sure that applies to too many 3D object types).

Question all you want, it's a free open forum for all 🙂
