2020 Unable to save drawing - saving a .tmp instead?

Hello all,

Not a work stopper here, more of a what the heck?

I have been updating older files on our server. Open the file, make a change or 2, then close, say yes to save changes, and get the error message I've attached. "Unable to save the drawing". When I go to the folder in explorer, the .tmp file is there, but the .dwg file is gone - just gone. Click "ok" in the error message, do a qsave instead and everything is as normal - current file is saved, .dwg is back in the folder; the .tmp file remains. I've audited and recovered - no errors. It happens every time I close these 2 files without saving first. The .tmp files pile up.

This has happened with 2 different files in the last 24 hours. It did not happen with these files in the past.

The details:

Windows 10 Pro, current update

AuoCAD Lt 2020 - current update

Graphics card etc on request - don't see that they are in play here...

Thanks,

Anne

eta... If I say "no" when I exit, I get the .tmp file and no .dwg. Change the file extension, open the dwg and works as normal. No errors.

Things that make you say Hmmmm

And there is not an problem if you saveas in dwg2013 or dwg2018 Format, or still a problem?

If not or so long we are without a sample.DWG, just linking to the knowledgebase page.

Thank you - I followed one of your links and found the answer.

For some reason the .bak file properties were set to "read only".  Makes sense when you think about it.

I unchecked that and all is normal.

I appreciate the help.
