Wrong Dimensions

I get wrong dimensions.  Please see the attached file.

I set DIMLFAC = 1, and DIMASSOC = 2

Thank you.

Make sure that you use Objectsnaps and make sure you snap MODEL-objects (not other paperspace objects like other dimensions 😉

Select your dimension from your picture and you will see it isn'z or isn't fully associated..

But without you dwg data we can not make a screenshot for you 😉

I take it your dimensioning in paper space?.

you cant overlap dimension nodes in paper space. so try from a different spot on the object (not the end corners where the other dimensions are then adjust the nodes. this is why i hate doing this in paperspace

If you are dimensioning in paperspace, you have a dimension picked from other dimension nodes, not the object in Model Space. If you need to have more than 1 dimension picked from the same points, you can matchprop from a "correct" dimension to the "incorrect" one(s), then it/they will read the correct value. It will not be associative with the model space object though, so if the geometry changes, you will have to move the dimension node manually. I run into this occasionally.

Hope this helps.

Thanks to all of you.

I attached here my DWG file.

Sometimes it takes a correct size, sometimes does NOT without changing anything.

When I change the scale to 1:1 and then change back to 4:1, then sometimes it works.

It makes me really crazy.

Could you please test on my file?  My file has been drawn in AutoCAD 2019.

I would appreciate if you give me feedback.

Thanks again.

Even though the current DIMLFAC is 1, you previously did all the dimesnions using DIMLFAC -0.25. Select the dimensions and check the properties for example (11.98*0.25 = 2.98)

I did Object snaps.

I attached my DWG below.

Thanks.

Hi S. Faris,

You pointed out the right place.

My "Dim scale linear for Scale 1:1 is -1.0000.

For Scale 4:1, Dim scale linear is supposed to be -0.25, but I don't know why CAD didn't change it to -0.25 automatically.  Well, sometimes it changes automatically, but sometimes doesn't.  That's my question why!!!

Anyhow, I found out the problem, and thank you VERY much.

Have a great day!!!

a) You snaped points on the  right object?

b) below? I don't see a DWG below, but above! And there you can see - your problem-dimensions are NOT fully associated.

Note: In your Layout you have two totally different things!

1. VIEWPORT on the upper left

2. DRAWINGVIEW in mid of the layout.

In that case, check this : Dimensions randomly changing scale in paperspace
