Wrong colors in layout

I have a drawing in AutoCAD 2018. Model view shows colors of the drawing as it's defined in layer. (I don't override colors for individual objects in properties.) However, if I create a new layout, colors are different. My layer properties manager says it's white. (I don't override it on per layout basis.)

First strange thing is that it says white but shows black. (This screenshot is from that layout.) (In model, layer manager says white and shows white.)

Then when I click on VP color of active layer in that layout, I see really white is selected. So I can't understand why it shows black next to white in layer manager.

Other strange thing is that one of the component is in gray but every single layer is defined the same way in terms of VP color.

I tried other solutions people said it solved their issue but I didn't had any configuration "wrong" as they said. (I also am sure that the layout is active so the settings for it are fine - because I can, e.g., hide some layer and it really hides it in the layout.)

Please what could be an issue ?

Thank you

Color 7 is a special color. When you have your background in modelspace set to black, white shows as white. But when in a layout, the background is white so in order to see color 7, it shows up as black.

Thank you. It makes sense. So I tried to change the color for VP layer to green but only holes and one side are green ?

That can depend on how you created your model. Can you upload a copy of your dwg? 2016 format please.

Hi,

Thank you. Attached. I saved it as 2013 version - there's nothing between 2013 and 2018 in save as dialog. Is this file O.K. ?

Thank you

As I suspected, the entity color is ByBlock, not ByLayer.

Hi,

Indeed one of the item used ByBlock so I've changed it to ByLayer. However, one part is still black as it used to be but it should be green. (I also simplified the file to have there just 2 objects. It's attached.

Hi,

Am I correct assuming you had a black box and green cylinders, then you started command _SUBSTRACT? .... and so you have got mixed colors.

Select all objects, change the color to e.g. red and then back to bylayer, this worked for me with your drawing.
