Working with .dwg file exported from Vectorworks

Hello all-

I work in Vectorworks 2023 and I am collaborating with a colleague whose company uses Autocad. They are using the latest release of Autocad. The problem arises when he sends me a .dwg file and I import it into Vectorworks and edit the 3D solids. I then export it as a .dwg file and send it back. When he opens the file and tries to break apart the 3D solids, all of the components are rendered as splines, not lines/regions/circles/etc. The problem arises when I export a solid object which I put say a hole of a certain size in and he tries to make it into a 2D object for CNC machining. The hole is rendered as a series of splines which he can't change the size of easily, say to increase the diameter to allow for fit/tolerance in the final manufactured part. Vectorworks has no solution as they are limited in what Autodesk shares with them as far as conversion algorithms to produce an importable .dwg file. I am trying to find out if there is a global operation I can perform on a .dwg file opened in Autocad that will force the pieces of a 3D solid to not be broken apart and rendered as splines before I send the .dwg file back to him.

Not much you can do in the software creating the issue unless VW offered suggestions: perhaps your recipient can do this instead https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-convert-spl...
