Hi,

the major problem might be your graphic card with 256MB.

3GB memory and Windws 7 32bit is nothing bad, you can drive the current version (2016) of AutoCAD with that.

It will also depend on what type of drawings you plan on making, 2D or 3D, You should verify your intentions.

2D should be OK with 2012 and 2015. For 3D, stay with 2012 though you may still have lag issues.

You can't buy 2012 or 2015 anymore: so try 2016 and see what happens.

go to autodesks web site, select the software you are interested in running and see what they suggest for the minimum requirements of that software.

Then there is nothing stopping you from answering your own question: you already have two computers/laptop to test side by side with your own files. There was no real need for you to post a question 🙂

Not to be completely evil, but you should consider Bricscad Pro as its less resource hungry.

Its $600 for a full seat, not $5000 like acad.

It will not make use of autodesk "object enablers" for things like civil3d objects, so careful if you sling civil3d stuff around.

It will still show, just in proxy object state which may vary a bit from full object enabler.

My advice on dealing with civil3d drawings is explode the aec objects which the civil batch converter does.

But you have to buy civil3d to get the bartch converter!

See, you think I'm taking business away from adesk, but you actually need their expensive tool to clean out their undesirable custom objects.

I guarantee that was not planned by them, call it dumb luck.
