Which software best suitable for Landscaping design

Currently I’m studding for landscaping design. I’m now at a point I have to make a decision to choose witch software I wat to use to design gardens. Since is quite a learning curve to fully understand a software program, I want to make the right decision what software to choose.

Required possibility’s
- 2D garden design
- 3D garden design
- Technical drawing (deck, pond, lighting, sprinkler system …)

I’m think it’s a good idea to achieve a certificate of the program(s) needed.

What is the best program to use for my needs?
And should it be Autodesk or Vectorworks, SketchUp, or something else?

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

Dean makes a good point that your instructor/courseware might be able to make good software suggestions.

If you are looking towards smaller residential projects, you might find AutoCAD LT sufficient for 2D work. However, you indicate that you are looking towards 3D as well. Is this merely for presentations or are you also trying to do cut-and-fill calculations? If the latter then you might consider full AutoCAD or even something like AutoCAD Civil 3D or Revit.

I have not used Vectorworks in quite sometime so I can't offer any suggestions there. Sketchup might be good for presentation work but in my opinion will not yield the same amount of options for construction calculations and documentation that AutoCAD might offer.

There are couple of add-ins available in the Autodesk App Store that might be useful if you want to download a Trial of AutoCAD.
