What variable is causing this display behavior?

Somehow I changed a setting in my drawing file that is causing line work to not display properly. In the attached screen capture I am showing how the line work is displayed in the problem drawing (left) and how it displays when I bring it into a new drawing (right).

I have checked: Line weight display toggle is off, Display plot style toggle off in page setup, 2d wireframe visual style is current (matches visual style in new dwg). No viewport overrides in effect (both views shown are model space tab). I recall changing something related to transparency before this happened because I was having issues with imagery in an XREF that was masking the line work. Unloading the XREFs makes no difference.

What else can it be?

Hi @Neilw_05,

Are you displaying Plot Styles in your page setup?  That is my first guess. Can you attach your problem drawing?

Display Plot styles is off in page setup.

DWG is attached. Note the color overrides on the objects are not being displayed.

I just updated the CAD file in the last post by removing the Civil 3D pipes. Please update if you already downloaded.

Hi Neil,

Can you run AUDIT, PURGE, -PURGE>Regapps on your file?

This is what I am seeing on my screen.

Capture.PNG

Should it look different than this?

Is this happening in core AUtoCAD or just in Civil 3D?

Audit and purge are clean. It must be machine specific. However when I paste into a new dwg on the same machine it displays properly. I'm baffled.

Hi Neil, When I AUDIT your drawing,  it finds 12 errors in your last file and 71 regapps are removed.

Are you running in AutoCAD Civil 3D or core AutoCAD?

The only other thing I can think of is a toggle in the drawing environment.

I purged 71 regapps too. I didn't have any audit errors. I am running Civil 3D.

When I open in plain AutoCAD everything is fine. It is something in my C3D environment. I'll post to the C3D forum.

Sorry I can't open your file as I am on 2016.

Here is my guess.

Is your drawing created from the template which is the same as "Drawing2" on right-hand side of the image?

And in your case the 1st thing I would do is comparing the layer properties (e.g. Color, Linetype, Lineweight, Transparency, etc.) between 2 drawings.

I am opening the same drawing in 2 apps, C3D and plain ACAD. Thus all drawing settings are identical.

As I can see you are not a beginner.

This may be a silly question: Are "color" and "linetype" of the lines set to "bylayer"?
