Hi

I'm having issues with welding symbols, the calf joint symbol (triangle) loads as the letter "q".

Do you mean the fillet weld symbol?  I've never heard of a calf joint.

Are you using AutoCAD Mechanical or just plain AutoCAD?

Have you tried using the OOTB Mechanical palette for plain AutoCAD?  It has a dynamic block for weld symbols. It's a bit limited but it's OK.

In AutoCAD Architecture, the AecDetailsWelding command is pretty good.

Yes the fillet weld symbol! English is not native language.

It is plain autocad. Will it help load these existing weld symbols or is it used to create new drawings?

In this instance I'm making adjustments to older drawings, so I have little knowledge how the drawing was made.

What driver created the print? Look like you have a font substitution taking place at print time from that driver.

Copy paste the symbol and a few surrounding elements into a new drawing and post it here.

Hi, the substitution occurs at the time of opening the dwg, do you think the printer options substitutes that directly?

Hi! If i try to import a pdf to autocad it directly substitutes the welding symbols to letters. Can't use the copy/paste options unfortuntely. Do you think i need to make blocks to implement the symbols to autocad?

IMO, it is a bad idea for anyone to be using characters to represent weld symbols because, unless you have the font used for the welding symbols in your font library, AutoCAD will use font substitution to render the characters.

That said, you could try to do an internet search for "welding symbol font".  There are a number of places you could download from.  Try that and see if AutoCAD restores them.

You could also search for "list fonts in pdf". This will show you how to get a list of fonts that you will need to download from the pdf document itself.
