We need to know if AutoCAD 2024, will have a new DWG format/version (Newer than DWG 2018 version)

Hi,

Does anyone know if  AutoCAD 2024, will have a new DWG version/format (Newer than DWG 2018 version/format).

Or will it still be the same DWG 2018-version?

When will AutoCAD 2024 be realeased?

For which AutoCAD version will Autodesk change to new DWG- version/format ? (If not on AutoCAD 2024)

And your solution is still to "save as" the desired version? I can't believe that you never had a problem with this. I learned not to rely on it the day I started processing/cleaning up files saved in newer formats for an older system. I was able to convert thousands of files with tools available from Autodesk without recording or engineering.

Sorry, you've been wasting your time.

BTW, trying to validate your analysis with your experience proves nothing especially after you've been shown that you were incorrect. Now you need to validate your experience.

you’re a weird duck, man. 
yes, I’ve never had a problem down-saving to a prior version. You sure make it sound like it’s some dangerous playing with fire thing. Only issue I’ve ever seen was with annotative objects, MLeaders, and proxy objects. If those are issues, exploding the object usually works. 
Heck, we routinely fire EXPORTTOAUTOCAD with nary an issue. Or Wblock out all visible objects as a basic cleanup step. 
And only very rarely an issue with certain C3D proxies. 
But to the point, which is imperative, if one had a legacy companion system that could only read 2018 version files, and a notional 2024 version came out, there is all but complete assurance that a downsaving method would work with full confidence. And secondly, there should be a rather easy path to upgrade this notional companion system. 
The only time I would avoid a downsaving solution, would be if it was C3D files with their proxies. But this situation is clearly not that.

Just transitioned to 2024, it is still AutoCAD 2018 format (AC1032).

@NguyễnHàHuy That is a strange sentiment to have. Why would another build be beneficial? Another build always causes issues for a lot of companies that cannot make the switch immediately but partner up with other companies that do make the switch immediately. Some add-ons are version dependent so those developers need more time to develop a new version compatible with the new build (if the effort is worth it) and their clients have to wait longer for a working edition for the next version.

Concerning the old builds, that is also a weird sentiment to want them removed. Although it would clean up the interface it can be detrimental to some companies. Certain dwg's and dxf's are used to transfer design data to producing machinery, this goes from CNC's to lathes, to printers, lasercutters etc... That machinery is often very expensive not regulary replaced. Their software interface sometimes will not be further updated and the oldest formats they will receive are v2000 - v2010. Cutting those versions from the software will confront those companies with a not so difficult choice, spend thousands to millions to upgrade their (still perfectly working) machinery, keep using older version for AutoCAD, invest in a custom built converter to older .dxf .dwg files, or switch to a competitor of Autodesk that still enables older format .dwg and .dxf generation (of which there are a lot). The two easy options are both not so desirable for Autodesk.

I'm sure other visitors in these forums can give other reasons why they prefer not to have a new build and why they prefer the conversion to older builds of dwg/dxf remains available in the software.

So why? Why do you think it would be beneficial?

I doubt it, but you've only got about another month to wait to find out, based on previous years, the new version should be coming out in about a month.  I dont think they would remove backward compatibility from the software, that is not traditionally how it has been done, and I dont see that as something they would just drop on everyone.  There would be some sort of announcement ahead of time to let people know about a change that big.

Besides, why change a format that works very well ? just to put a '2026' after 'DWG' ?
