Viewport outline color

Hello Forum:

I have 2 viewports in paperspace.   One is rectangular and the other is a polygon (5 sides).   I can change the viewport outline of the rectangular one to red, green, yellow...  etc...   but the polygon shaped viewport remains white...  the color in the properties dialog box says red, green, yellow... etc...  but the outline itself remains white?   is this by design?  if not what have I done wrong...  can I change the color of a polygonal viewport outline ?

What version of AutoCAD are you using as listed in ABOUT command?
Can you share your DWG file with this problem in place?

Did you use VpClip? If you want the 5 sided polygonal viewport to be same color as your viewport layer color. You need to make the viewport layer current, then redo the VPclip. The viewport should now by the color of the current layer.

You may need to recreate the polygonal viewport. Delete the  polygonal viewport, then redarw it.

  1. Start by making the 0 layer current, then drawing the desired perimeter of your polygonal on the 0 layer.
  2. Make sure this polygon's color is set to ByLayer such that 'ByLayer' is displayed in the Properties Palette under Color when this polygon is selected.
  3. Convert this polygon into a viewport using ByObject option (From layout contextual tab=>Layout Viewports Panel)
  4. Move this newly created viewport to a new layer dedicated to this single viewport where the VP can inherit the new layer's color.

The polygonal viewport will be made up of two objects, use the crossing selection method and set them both to the same layer or just set the color if you want.
