VIEWPORT AND LAYOUTS

Good day everyone

For some reason when I create a new layout tab in CAD is not automatically giving me a view port, and I was just copy and pasting my title block then fitting the view port window inside my page. Now is not allowing me to grab the view port window to fit it inside my layout page. I am attaching an screen cast of the what I have going on to see if anyone could tell me what am I doing wrong or what I should upload to provide a better description.

Any help is appreciated

Thank you for your time

Hi,

>> when I create a new layout tab in CAD is not automatically giving me a view port

Start command _OPTIONS, tab Display and verify the checkbox for "Create viewport in new layouts"

Missed the attachment.

Check for Layers off or locked.  As a guess, layer Defpoints mimics layer 0, monkeying with layer 0 can cause layer defpoints to appear locked.

Solution: don't use defpoints for anything except defpoints, create a viewports layer and set it to no plot.

Instead of doing that, I would suggest making a Copy of a Layout that already has the title block and viewport in it -- they'll be in the Copy, too, eliminating the need to copy/paste or fit [unless you need the Viewport to have a different relationship to the title block, or other variants].  Right-click on the Layout's tab, and pick Move or Copy... then check the Create a copy box.

Layout.png     LayoutCopy.PNG

It will make one with the same name followed by a number in parentheses, but you can Rename it in that same right-click menu.

Thank you very much everyone for your time and your suggestions, and specially your Mr. Copper you saved my life and saved me from a nervous breakdown LITERALLY!. I will figure out later what could of possibly changed in my CAD between now and 6 hrs ago, and I know no one has touched my station so who knows.

Thank you again everyone and I will finish this sucker now, and actually get a more than 4 hrs of sleep till next rush project comes in.

Thank you all again and wish you all a very Marry Christmas

BTW the setvar that creates viewports with new tabs is LAYOUTCREATEVIEWPORT

or

You can find it under options->Display->Create Viewports in new layouts

I had that option checked when everything went looney, but I will have to catch up in some tutorials as soon as I am able to so I am not ever in the same boat.

Thank you
