Vertical Alignment PVI Label Group Moves when Xrefed

When I set up a Road Profile it creates Vertical Alignment PVI Label Groups at the ends of my profiles.  This label defaults to a straight up position.  When I move it out of the way it reverts to a qleader type position which is what I want in some cases.  When I go to the XREF Output sheet where the Profile is xrefed in a viewport, it is back to the default upright position.  Is this a glitch in the software?  Civil 3D 2015

Thanks,

Are you saving the profile drawing beforehand?

Is the profile referenced through a data shortcut?

The profile is xrefed into another folder for output purposes. If the layer that has the labels is locked then the profile stays set. If it is unlocked then all the labels reset to original position in the original dwg as well as the dwg that xrefs the profiles.
