Using Point Cloud data for Measured Building surveys

Hi,

I use scanned survey point-cloud data to produce Measured Building surveys. My query relates to creation of Building Facades. Hopefully this is the correct place to be enquiring?

Is there anyone here who is experienced / can advise on the use of AutoCAD for this, using pcg files, before I go into the detail as to my query?

Thanks in advance.

Good afternoon, I do not think I understood your question and maybe I'm not a voice of experience, I'm only 20 years old, but autocad answers yes, depending on the work, if it is to build simpler facades (like image) answers if it is something more sophisticated I recommend you to use revitCapturar.PNG

Hi,

Thanks for your response.

Perhaps I should go into this with further detail..

My current process involves 'tracing' the building features, visible from the point cloud, when viewed face-on ie the z elevation is now the y on the screen. x runs across the face of the facade and across the screen.

The difficulty is that point-cloud data consist of scans from multiple set ups ie from front and from the side. When viewed from the front, the side cloud also forms part of that data set and so it becomes very difficult to distinguish feature edges etc.

My query is, does Acad have the means to 'scroll' through the cloud data from front to back at say a slither of 10mm thick? Have you ever seen an MRI scan where the patients body is viewed in slithers as the machine travels down the length of the body?

I would suggest that the full cloud be faded-out slightly and the slither currently being viewed would be brighter / clearer. The operator could then move up and down or rather in and out of the cloud as he wishes, in real time to aid the visual determination as to which points he / she should be tracing along. Can Acad do this?

I'm sure that there are other software options out there but I unfortunately do not have the option to change.

Thanks again in advance for anything anyone can offer.

Cheers.
