Using fields in Sheet Set Properties

Is it possible to put a field (say, dwg last saved date) in either the sheetset properties or the sheet properties so it will automatically update in the sheet list table?

Perhaps to read a viewport in a layout tab for the Scale option?

This seems unlikely to me but a friend and I are trying to figure out how to solve a problem.  Thank you!

Are you talking about something like this?

Thank you for the reply!

That is where I would like to insert a field, yes. The Sheet List Table tool has pre-determined places it looks for that information. I am wondering if I can point it in another direction. Like where drawing saved date is being filled in, can that piece of information be owned by the sheet instead of the dwg the sheet is saved in so different sheets in the same dwg can have different "last saved" dates that are owned by the sheet properties instead of the dwg?

Have the information in the sheet list table read Date Revised (blah) instead of pathing to the dwg.

I feel like that's a lot of words to say what I'm trying to convey and maybe I'm not able to word it correctly.

I see what you are saying. Maybe there is a way to access when the object or tab is created.

I maybe wrong in what you want but I think Vincent was correct. The Drawing Save Date is owned by the Sheet and not the Sheet Set.

I did a 3 drawing setup in sheet sets and used the Drawing Save Date and it gave me (3) different times for the drawings.

I have pasted an image and added the files in a Zip file. Put that into your downloads and test it out.

Well, cannot Paste the image, so I put it inside the ZIP file. I have sent a Report to get the pasted issue figured out but no one replies back.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, JRR!

Thank you for your reply!

Were the sheets all located in separate dwgs or the same?  It's my understanding that the cell we are talking about references the dwg last saved date.

BTW I click and drag screenshots to get them to work, I haven't gotten the paste screenshot to work either.

Yes, My screenshot wasn't the best example. Each sheet is in the same file. I did another test with multiple files and it showed different dates and times.

Hi @alaneZ8RDC , Hope you are doing great! To my knowledge, the Sheet List Table can only pull data from predefined fields or Sheet/Sheet Set properties. Fields such as Drawing Save Date reference the DWG file itself (as you know), not individual layouts. Because multiple sheets (layouts) in the same drawing share the same file metadata, it isn’t possible to have different “save dates” per sheet.

If you need sheet-specific values in the sheet list table, one approach is to create a custom sheet property and use that field in the table instead. After creating the custom property, you must manually enter the value for each sheet. This is a bit tedious but would allow each sheet to have its own value even if multiple sheets exist within the same DWG.
