URL Paths for XREFs / Images

Hi All,

After recently ugrading to AutoCAD 2021, I'm having a problem using URL paths for XREFs.

Since a lot of our staff are currently working from home, we setup some web based links for common references. Mainly this is for our client logo's. This worked great in AutoCAD 2018, but since upgrading v2021 won't accept URL paths. Our paths are something like "http://www.ourwebspace.com/client_logo.jpg".

It seems odd that a feature has been removed in a new version. Can anyone help?

@Anonymous  -- It works the same in AutoCAD 2021 for me, as it does in AutoCAD 2019. See screenshot below.

 

The Image URL I used is https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/image/serverpage/image-id/550335iE8B0555060F9BAFB/image-size/large?v=1.0&px=999

Is the image still referenced remotely, or has AutoCAD saved a local copy in C:\Users\*user*\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\...

Local path saved, but it does this same thing in 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, and 2014.

Mine is definitely different. I have drawings which were done in ACAD 2018, when I open them in ACAD 2021 it has lost all the url links (inserting local temp links). In ACAD 2018, the URL also does not change to a local path, and remains a http:// path.
