Unwrap from 3Dsmax to Autocad

Hey,

Is it possible to export an unwrapped 3Dsmax plane to Autocad keeping the texture coördinates?

This is just for testing purposes.

regards

Bert

Hi @bertv ,

I was able to export a simple 3DS Max plane to DWG, open that in AutoCAD, and apply a material and the texture coordinates look to be intact.

The plane and mesh I created were very simple. I did not have more complex unwrapped planes or texture mapping to test. Please feel free to report back with any test results for larger and more complex objects.

Hi @

I tested with a regular plane and uvw map. But can't seem to transfer the coördinates to CAD.

I made some screenshots to make things clear:

Preparation in 3Ds max

Material assign in CAD

Render in CAD

I was able to adjust some settings on the image. But this is far from ideal when using mesh with custom uvw unwraps.

Bert

UV tools in products like AutoCAD and Navisworks are very basic compared to 3DSMAX, as rendering is not a primary focus.
